Trip to town ... [Private - Opal and Willow]

Willow walked in with Opal, a smile on his handsome face.
They had considered going to Starbucks, but as it seemed they didn't sell animal blood .,, they settled for a table closest to the window.

Looking out, Willow could see Lacey, Jacob and Castella as well as some other guy, walking out of the Mall, all smiling apart from Jacob, who seemed frustrated.

- Well, well, well. What do you make of that?" he grinned.
A waitress walked up to them - clearly a vampire.

- May I take your order please?" she asked, a business smile on her face.

- A large Ox blood if you have any, if not Grizzly? - Opal?" he asked.

She gulped and looked at the waitress

It's not that she didn't like blood.She was a vampire.
But somehow her organism never craved for it.It was just like chocolate.Tasty but tempting.
She usually stayed away from blood.It was like a drug to her.The more she got the more she'd want.
She continued to eat human food even though she couldn't digest it.

But this was a crucial moment.If she denied,this guy would think she was weird.
And she didn't want to make a bad impression on her first day at school.

-Yes,sure!" she agreed

A little blood won't hurt me,right?

Willow smiled, hearing her thought.

- Opal - it's like that for everyone, you know. You've just got to know you're limits. See, I used to have difficulty with the slightest amount of blood. And now look at me, 300 years later I'm drinking 2 litres a week! he grinned, and ordered for them.

He sensed her nervousness, and sighed.

- If it makes you feel any better, I could always take you back to the school."

She googled at him

-But I'm only 45!And about my self control...well,it's complicated.But,anyway,I'll take it.If you see any strange reactions,you can always rip me into pieces and burn me" she joked

Then,for a minute,she bit her lip and turned her head.
What the...? she thought
She looked at the small group of the students they met earlier at the Library

-I think they're talking,or better say gossiping,about us"

Willow grinned.

No, really? I don't think I'd be able to do that; it's not everyday I find someone with the same ability as me. Maybe apart from Edward Cullen?"

He sighed, thinking of a brief encounter in Italy several years ago; come to think of it he seemed rather depressed, back then.
Quickly turning his head, he smiled.

- Gossiping; they seem to be curious whether we'd make a good couple or not." he laughed.

She sighed
That was exactly the kind of awkward moment she'd like to avoid

-Humans" she said

-Always the same"

She stayed silent as she had no idea of what to say

Willow stared at her silently until the drinks arrived in metal cups with straws. He had never understood how those things were made.

He glanced to his left, the table where the four had been now empty, their cups on the table.
Looking to his other side, through the window, he grimaced at the weather.

- We'd better hurry, the curfew is ending soon, and I'm pretty certain it's going to rain." he sighed, taking a large swig from his cup.

Turning back to Opal, he grinned.
- So where's miss Opal from? I'm from London - England, to be specific."

Me neither,she thought,not that I really care

-London!It doesn't suprise me,you were human centuries ago!"

-I was born in Northern Finland,but I'm half Irish and half Native American.But I lived most of my second life in US"

She sniffed the air.Rain.Willow's predictions were correct.
Right,we should be going

Willow grinned.

- That's an interesting combination ... so you were born in Finland, you're half Native American Indian and half Irish, and you were raised in the US?"

He looked at Opal, and let out a quick sigh.
From the sound of her thoughts, and the look on her face, he could easily tell that she wasn't having much fun. Well ... this outing was so she could cool herself off.

- I do have an accent, and I'm surprised no one actually noticed." he chuckled.

-I didn't really noticed the accent" she laughed

She looked outside for a second and then continued

-No,I spent my childhood in Finland.But from the time I was bitten,I decided to move across the Atlantic"

Usually,Opal was bubbly and cheerful.But these days,she wasn't in the mood for anything.Especially went she found out that this guy,Willow,might knew her brother and worse,Rafe could even be in New Moon High,she became really upset.

She holded her cup and drank some blood from it
Her face instantly lighted up and her eyes turned into a beautiful shade of amber

Willow smiled as her face lit up, and her eyes went from crimson to a dark amber.

- Feeling any better, hm?"

Taking another swig of his own drink, he quickly checked his watch.
What surprised him most was definitely Opal's thoughts; they were brief, he didn't have much time to hear them, but she had mentioned something about her brother? Wait, she had a brother?
Shaking it off, he quickly answered her reply.

- Do you ever miss it? Finland, I mean." he asked, pensive.

-Yes and no.Finland is my home but it brings bad memories into my mind" she said and sighed


She looked at him more closely.Although he seemed young,he was old and probably really wise.
Four hundrend years old,she thought
That explains why he's so calm and quiet

- Oh - I'm sorry." he quickly apologised.

She stared at him for several long moments, and he smiled at her thought.

- Four hundred years has it's ups and downs, you know. I haven't had a girlfriend in a hundred of them because I'm "So old fashioned." he laughed.

He finished off his drink, and grabbed his wallet - they were going to have to leave soonish. The rain had already started pouring down, and if they didn't hurry they would be drenched to the bone before they even arrived at the school.

-It's okay"she said and smiled

Old fashioned?I don't think so...you're lucky you lived back then.Just after Elisabethan era..."she said excited

She wore her hoodie and looked the rain outside
-We could run!" she said as he heard his thoughts

... Well, I guess ... I was around the same time as Galileo." he sighed.
Leaving the money on the counter, he shoved his hands in the pockets of his jeans.

- I'll race you." he grinned.

She let out a breath and started running the fastest she could.She always loved competitions
-You're not going to win!" she said almost invisible now

She looked at him as he passed her and bit her lips

He's fast,she thought and smiled

As they ran,the rain became stronger.Her long hair and clothes were wet.
The headmistress won't like that...

- Is that what you think?" he laughed.

They ran past the cars, the rain hitting them hard. His shirt was already drenched.

Crap. Well, it's a good thing there are showers ... skin as hard as diamonds or not, warmth is warmth.

He grinned as he overtook her, and she bit her lips.
Come on, I'm pretty sure you're faster than that. he thought quickly.

Willow grinned as the school came into sight. He sped up, but Opal did too.
Crap.

They were seconds away from the school gate, and suddenly, Opal stopped in her tracks.
What the ...?
He could see her thought, her vision clearly in his mind as they were his own. ... Werewolves?

Before he knew it, he had already reached the gate, slowing down as he reached the door to the school.
She was going to have to tell him inside.
He walked inside, straight into the Great Hall.
